Belvédère Vallée de la Neuze

The Vallée de Neuze lookout is free of charge. It offers a view of the cement plant's quarry. Established in 1919 in the Thouet valley, the lime works soon turned to cement production. The 1980s saw the modernization of the bagging and shipping workshop and the grinding workshop. Today, two firing lines, equipped with new filtration systems, handle all production. The cement plant, which mines limestone and marl, covers some 100 hectares and employs 145 people. Interpretation panels explain the quarry's geological context, allowing visitors to explore the site independently. Guided tours are scheduled every summer (see L'Homme et la Pierre program) or by appointment all year round for groups and schools.
